On July 27th, MixMag, Casablanca Records and the Smirnoff Sound Collective will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer's iconic 1977 record - I Feel Love at Schimanski in Brooklyn, NY. Alongside Paradise Garage veteran Francois K, San Fran trio Pillowtalk, disco evangelist Eli Escobar, NYC's own Nomi Ruiz, and more, the legendary euro-disco mastermind will play a set of his revolutionary classics among his modern work with collaborators like Daft Punk, Britney Spears, and Sia.

I Feel Love was “the first disco hit entirely produced with a synthesizer”. That same year, Moroder released his Casablanca Records debut, From Here To Eternity, which paved the way for house music’s eventual emergence. Four Grammy awards and three Academy awards later, Giorgio successfully transformed the landscape of pop and electronic music globally.

The Smirnoff Sound Collective (SSC) was created with the goal of inspiring a more diverse and inclusive world through electronic music. In 2017 SSC launched the Webby Award winning ‘Equalizing Music’ initiative, aiming to double the number of female headliners in electronic music by 2020. Their efforts led to Spotify,Pitchfork, iHeartRadio, Deltic Group, Mixmag, THUMP, Broadly, and Insomniac, the global leader in dance music and creative partner of Live Nation Entertainment, signing a pledge to increase female representation. SSC has also championed stories of diversity with its documentary series Tribes - spotlighting NAAFI, Discwoman and DIRTYBIRD, and launched an artist mentor program designed to give a diverse group of artists the tools to be successful and to help them learn from one another in a space where all genders, races, and sexual orientations are heard.
