In July 1977 Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte created a hit song that revolutionized dance music and spread a message of love, acceptance and freedom of expression that still resonates today.

In New York, on July 27, Mixmag, Casablanca Records and the Smirnoff Sound Collective will celebrate the anniversary of this amazing record – and it's message of love and inclusivity – with its legendary producer, Giorgio Moroder, at Schimanski in Brooklyn.

Moroder and Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” was “the first disco hit entirely produced with a synthesizer”. That same year, Moroder released his Casablanca Records debut, From Here To Eternity, which paved the way for house music’s eventual emergence. He would release two more albums, including Love’s In You, Love’s In Me and E=MC², going on to win four Grammys and three Academy Awards, transforming the landscape of pop and electronic music.

Moroder has enjoyed a second dancefloor renaissance in the 21st century. He guest-collaborated on Daft Punk’s Grammy Award®-winning Random Access Memories in 2013 and landed main stage festival spots at HARD, CRSSD, as well as headlining sold out shows around the world. This culminated with his acclaimed 2015 album Déjà Vu, which bowed at #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and featured collaborations with Britney Spears, Charli XCX, Sia, Kylie Minogue, and more.

The Smirnoff Sound Collective (SSC) was created with the goal of inspiring a more diverse and inclusive world through electronic music. In 2017 SSC launched the Webby Award winning ‘Equalizing Music’ initiative, aiming to double the number of female headliners in electronic music by 2020. Their efforts led to Spotify, Pitchfork, iHeartRadio, Deltic Group, Mixmag, THUMP, Broadly, and Insomniac, the global leader in dance music and creative partner of Live Nation Entertainment, signing a pledge to increase female representation. SSC has also championed stories of diversity with its documentary series Tribes - spotlighting NAAFI, Discwoman and DIRTYBIRD, and launched an artist mentor program designed to give a diverse group of artists the tools to be successful and to help them learn from one another in a space where all genders, races, and sexual orientations are heard.
